UEFA Has Announced Valeriy Lobanovksyi Dynamo Stadium Will Host The Women's Champions League Final Next Year.

The 16,873 capacity stadium in Kyiv is home to Ukranian side Dynamo Kyiv. As 22,433 watched this year's final in Cardiff, this seems a backwards step from UEFA. Again the final will be played on the Thursday evening before the men's final. The men's final next year will be played at the nearby National Olympic Stadium which has a capacity of 70,050. Shouldn't it be the job of UEFA to help create a level playing field between the men's and women's games? A final that attracted almost 22,500 fans should surely be held at a stadium with a capacity of at least the same number. Reducing the capacity by almost 6,000 looks like a deliberate attempt to stifle the women's game. As an English fan, I'm very excited for next season's competition. Chelsea are looking to progress further than the season just passed and Man City will be among those aiming for the final.
Last year's men's final was held at the 80,018 capacity San Siro and attracted a crowd of 71,942. This year's final will be held tomorrow at Wales' national stadium, the Principality Stadium which has a capacity of 74,500.
Is this a backwards step for women's football? Should UEFA get away with deliberately suppressing the women's game?
