England have been beaten only once since their disappointing Euro exit in 2013, qualified for the World Cup, and will play Germany at Wembley.
England have qualified for the 2015 World Cup in Canada and will be rewarded with a Wembley tie against Germany in November. It will be the first time the women's team has ever played at the new Wembley Stadium.
Since last year's disappointing display in the Euro's in Sweden and the departure of long-term coach Hope Powell, England have been in scintillating form, losing only to France in this year's Cyprus Cup final, in Mark Sampson's first competition as England manager. Even in the period between Powell's sacking and Sampson's appointment, caretaker Brent Hills' England teams won their World Cup qualifiers. Since taking over, Sampson has continued with an attacking brand of football, bringing back players who had fallen out of favour under Powell, and brought in new faces, including giving WSL 2 star Fran Kirby a debut. The girls have all justified their selections with Kirby scoring on her international debut and being voted player-of-the-match against Sweden. Natasha Dowie has become an England regular after being controversially left out for the Euro's by Powell.

England went into their latest World Cup qualifier against Wales needing only a point to secure qualification for next year's spectacle in Canada. Wales were in second place in the group but, England had won every game, conceding only one goal to a tough Ukraine side. England came out on top once again. Mark Sampson is the first Welsh coach to qualify for a World Cup for more than fifty years. Wales and Ukraine are now competing for second place and the crucial play-off.
Since qualification, The FA have announced England will play a friendly match against Germany at Wembley. This will be one of Mark Sampson's biggest games as England boss, albeit, a friendly match. The occasion of playing at Wembley and against such strong opponents will be as big as the World Cup group games and is a just reward for a senior England team that can't stop winning. The game will take place on November 23 at Wembley Stadium.
