ENGLAND'S CYPRUS CUP PROGRESSION

England have progressed to the final of the Cyprus Cup with victories over Italy (2-0), Finland (3-0) and  Canada (2-0).

Mark Sampson's England are into Wednesday's final after a 2-0 win over Canada in Nicosia. A first-half brace from Lianne Sanderson put the Lionesses ahead. Canada, lead by former England head-coach candidate John Herdman, fell to two first-half goals from England's Lianne Sanderson and despite some encouraging football, Canada's women could not break England's resolve at the back. Sophie Schmidt's free-kicks came to nothing as England kept a third consecutive clean-sheet and will face either France or Scotland in the final on Wednesday afternoon.

The win means that England top Group A and progress to the final. With both France and Scotland playing for the other place in Wednesday's final. Group B leaders Scotland face bottom of the group Australia while France take on Netherlands. If Scotland and France both win the decision will go to goal difference however, if both teams win by the same scoreline, Scotland will take on England having scored one more goal than France.

This year's Cyprus Cup has been an impressive start to the Mark Sampson era for England's women.
