Milton Keynes to Host FA Cup Final

The FA has today announced that MK Dons will host the FA Women's Cup final on June 1st.

StadiumMK will be the host venue of one of the women's game's biggest matches. The show piece event will take place at 4:30pm live on BBC2 on June 1st. The big game will follow the FA Girls' Youth Cup (1pm).

Vice Chairman of The FA Women’s Committee, Elaine Oram, said: "We thank Milton Keynes Dons for agreeing to host what is traditionally the biggest and most high-profile domestic women’s match of the season.
"We were impressed with the enthusiasm they showed to stage the final on our behalf and we are sure they will do a magnificent job.
"And to once again have the support of the BBC is absolutely fantastic. The BBC broadcast all three of England Women’s home World Cup qualifiers last year and we look forward to more excellent coverage of women’s football throughout 2014."
This will be the fifth FA game the League One club have hosted, having held three men's U21's victories, against Bulgaria (2007), Azerbaijan (2009) and Finland (2013), as well as Brian Eastick's U19's 3-1 victory over Russia in 2008.
Women's football has increased massively both commercially and in popularity over the past two years especially and with the changes at the top end of the women's league system, as well as, for the national team, it's set to be the biggest season yet. Manchester City's emergence and their intent at immediate success makes for an exciting prospect. Big signings have been made right across the FA WSL.
This season’s competition is currently at the Fourth Round stage. The eight FA WSL 1 clubs will enter the fray in Round Five. Arsenal extended their record of Cup wins to 12 last season, defeating Bristol Academy 3-0 in The Final.
Tickets for the final will go on sale Friday 21st February.
