Combination and Regional Divisions Preview; Sunday 22nd Dec 2013

There are only two games across the whole of the Combination leagues this weekend and they are both in the Northern division.

Middlesbrough entertain Chorley in a top half clash between 6th and 3rd place. Boro lost their away game last week to league leaders Mossley Hill which halted their 9 game unbeaten run in all competitions. Chorley didn't play last weekend but, have lost their last two outings both, home defeats to Huddersfield Town. On paper the stats are firmly in Chorley's favour with more games won, more goals scored, less goals conceded, a greater goal difference, etc. but, MFC Ladies' recent record could upset the cart in this tough encounter.

Ninth placed Sheffield United Community will face Huddersfield in fourth position. Huddersfield look the far superior team but, Sheffield have some good players and a reliable goalkeeper. Despite the league table's indication, Huddersfield aren't in the best of form. They defeated Chorley in consecutive away games before last week's league break but, have had a few weeks of win, defeat, win, defeat. Sheffield have only picked up one point since their 3-0 victory over Cheadle Heath on 20th October.

There are no more Combination games until 5th January 2014.

The only games in the Women's Regional leagues come from the Midlands before Christmas.

In the East Midlands Regional Division 2nd place Pelican Ladies are at home to third bottom AFC Trinity. The Pelicans are unbeaten so far this season only dropping points in two games from their ten. They recorded an outstanding 21-0 away win in the league cup in September in which they were leading 10-0 at half-time. Trinity's form has been indifferent so far, recording three victories from their nine league games.

Steel City Wanderers play host to Sandiacre Town in the other fixture. League leaders Wanderers have not dropped points all season and have the largest goal difference in the league. Sandiacre have won three games from ten and have an even goal difference.

There are no more Regional League games before Christmas.
